Celluma LED therapy on the scalp

Celluma LED therapy on the scalp

Several studies targeting scalp procedures to promote hair regeneration have emerged, highlighting the potential of combining light therapy with micro-needling and/or PRP to optimize results and patient satisfaction.

LED therapy can be safely and effectively combined with a wide variety of treatment modalities including laser, microdermabrasion, micro-needling, peels, injections, pre- and post-surgery, PRP, and many more.

In most cases, LED can be used before any of these treatments to vitalize and prepare the tissue. However, maximum benefit can be achieved by using LED diodes after the procedure to facilitate healing, reduce discomfort and downtime, and maximize anti-aging and skin rejuvenating benefits. When it comes to hair loss, light therapy protocols are long-term and require a serious commitment from the patient, usually for several months.

The benefits of light therapy for hair loss and hair repair are well-studied and documented. In fact, studies have shown that light therapy has successfully stimulated hair growth in both men and women, and studies with large randomized controlled trials have shown statistically significant hair regrowth according to terminal hair count in both men and women.

Celluma is the only Celluma device with an FDA-approved program specifically created for the treatment of hair and scalp conditions.

To achieve the best results, Celluma RESTORE for scalp treatment is used every other day for 16 weeks. If necessary, the treatment can be continued for longer than 16 weeks.

The treatment is approximately 30 minutes long and it is necessary to check whether the hair and scalp are clean and completely dry before use. It is recommended to separate the hair before using the light in order to reveal the areas of the scalp suffering from hair loss.

There are three phases of the hair cycle. The anagen phase represents the growth phase of the hair cycle and can last from 2 to 6 years. The catagen phase, which generally lasts 1 to 2 weeks, is when the club hair transition is observed as it progresses towards the skin pore and the dermal papilla begins to separate from the hair follicle. The telogen stage, which lasts from 5 to 6 weeks, shows the complete separation of the dermal papilla from the hair follicle. Finally, the cycle progresses again towards the anagen stage when the dermal papilla fuses with the hair follicle and the hair matrix begins to synthesize new hair.

It has been proven that light therapy prolongs the anagen phase and delays the onset of the catagen phase.

Light therapy is a proven and attractive option for the treatment of hair loss caused by androgenetic alopecia, especially for those individuals seeking an alternative to pharmaceutical drugs or invasive surgical treatments to stimulate hair growth and promote scalp health.
