A milium cyst is a minute, hard white spot that is often found on the cheeks and nose. Milium cysts are often found in groups and in this case, it is referred to as milia.

Milia occurs when the bodies keratin becomes trapped underneath the surface of the skin. Keratin is a protein that is found in the tissue of the skin, hair and nails.

Milia is a condition that can be found on people of all ages and sexes however, it is most commonly found in new born babies. New borns typically encounter Milia on the eyelids and cheeks.
